RANDY POWELL

CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR

Randy was born and raised i n the Dallas, Texas, area and accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized at the age of six. His family later started attending an IFCA church until Randy went off to college. Their church family life was the old typical Sunday morning Sunday school and church, Sunday evening Training Union and evening service, Wednesday evening church-wide prayer meeting and one night a week for Christian Service Brigade.

Randy attended John Brown University in Arkansas for his undergraduate work and, after meeting and marrying Susan, went to The University of North Texas for his Master's of Business Education degree.

Susan was also raised in a strong Christian family environment with regular weekly church attendance. She came to know the Lord at an early age and moved with her family to Fort Defiance, Arizona, on the Navajo Indian Reservation where she graduated from high school before leaving for John Brown University where she and Randy met.

Randy and Susan were married in Flagstaff, Arizona, in 1966 and then, after graduate school moved to Edinburg, Texas, where Randy taught at the University of Texas at Edinburg from 1967-1973.

In 1973 they moved to Prescott where Randy worked for Yavapai College for 22 years. They started attending First Baptist in 1973 and after Randy left the college in 1995 he came to work full time for the church in an administrative capacity.

Susan has ministered in the music program at the church for these 35 years as did both of the Powell daughters, Kimberly and Erin, in their growing up years. Both of their daughters live in the Phoenix area with their husbands and the six Powell grandchildren. Both families are active in local Phoenix area churches.

Randy and Susan travel extensively by motorcycle and spend vacation time in Colorado riding off-road motorcycles and quads.

While Susan's ministry passion is music and women's ministries, Randy's ministry since 1973, before coming to work for the church, was in administration and the graphic visual presentation arena. Randy loves to find ways to enhance services by the presentation of graphic items - 35 years ago with panorama color slides and now with a computer and video projector.
